An Ordinary Developer's Journey

Hi, I'm Emily.

Usually, the people who set up personal websites or blogs are those who have already accumulated a lot of experience and are good at documenting and breaking down logic. But that's not me. I'm just a random person who switched to frontend development. It even feels a bit awkward to call myself an "engineer" because it doesn't seem to fit me.

After working for a while, I realized that my GitHub looks pretty empty. So, I decided to build this small website as a way to reflect on almost two years of work experience and to document my journey moving forward.

(The repo is public, so all you pros out there, feel free to do a code review…)

In an era where fragmented reading and short videos are all the rage, writing articles helps me organize my thoughts and stabilize my fluctuating emotions. I'll be posting some of my technical notes here, and if I go on trips, I'll throw in some travel diaries too.

Oh, and all the cover photos for my articles are taken by me. I’ve got a RICOH GR3x to keep me company.

I'm in my mid-twenties, and honestly, I'm still uncertain about how far and deep I can go in my career. Seeing so many brilliant engineers, I can't help but wonder: "Will I ever be that good? Can I get there?"

I even question how long my passion for coding will last. Three years? Five? Ten?

These questions don't have answers yet, but for now, I'll just keep writing, keep learning.

And I believe I'm not the only one with these worries. If you happen to be reading this and feel the same way, you're not alone.

That's also why I wanted to start this blog:

Keep going, document the journey, and only when you look back can you see how far you've come.

I'm pretty average, maybe even useless sometimes, but if someone like me can survive, you definitely can too.

Let's keep each other going.
